SSRCE Welcomes You!
SSRCE welcomes students from other countries who wish to attend school in Nova Scotia. We offer an excellent academic environment, as well as extra-curricular activities at all levels.
All international students must have proof of current health insurance issued by a Canadian provider before the child will be permitted to attend school.

Student Categories
Category I
Children of Parents with a Valid Work Permit or Study Permit
- Work Permit: Children whose parents hold a valid Work Permit from the Government of Canada for Nova Scotia are exempt from tuition fees for the duration of the permit.
- Study Permit: Children whose parents hold a valid Study Permit from the Government of Canada for Nova Scotia are also exempt from tuition fees for the duration of the permit.
How to Apply
To register, visit your local school with the following documentation:
- Proof of the child’s age and legal name (e.g., birth certificate, passport)
- Proof of residency (e.g., current utility bill)
- Educational records/documents, if applicable
- Proof of valid medical insurance, including expiry date
- Parent’s Work or Study Permit, and proof of relationship with the child
- Custodial papers, if applicable
Please note, there is a $50 processing fee for any non-tuition paying students requiring a Letter of Acceptance from SSRCE.
Category II
Children without Canadian Citizenship Living with Relatives/Friends
- These students must pay tuition per school year.
- Must have a legal guardian who is a Canadian citizen, unless living with a parent.
Important: Enrollment in certain school areas may not be guaranteed due to capacity. Contact the SSRCE Coordinator of International Services before choosing a residential area. A Letter of Acceptance (LOA) from SSRCE International Services is required prior to school registration.

Category III
Students with the Following Immigration Status
No tuition will be charged for students with:
- Permanent Resident or Landed Immigrant Status
- Refugee Status
- Convention Refugee Status
