Become a casual teacher assistant free program beginning Jan. 2025
Teacher Assistants (TAs) work collaboratively as members of the school community, developing and maintaining a positive rapport with students.
SSRCE & NS Works will be offering a FREE Casual TA training program in January.
This program is tuition free and eligible participants may qualify for financial support during this program.
The training will focus on introducing participants to developing strategies to promote student learning and independence. Topics covered will include, Social Emotional Learning, Programming, Equity, Confidentiality, Professional Boundaries, Stress Management, First Aid, Interview Skills, Health & Wellness, and much, much more.

Eligibility:
- You are a Canadian Citizen or permanent resident legally entitled to work in Canada.
- You are unemployed or underemployed (less than 20 hours/week).
- You are ready to participate in training sessions and work experience placements to build the skills you need to work as a casual TA.
- You have a clear criminal record and vulnerable sector check and child abuse registry search letter.
