On March 30, 2020, Premier Stephen McNeil announced that all public schools will remain closed until at least May 1, 2020, as part of Nova Scotia’s COVID-19 prevention measures.
Teachers and school administrators are checking in with families by phone and email. You can reach out to teachers or administrators if you have questions about your child’s education.
We know this is an exceptional time for families. Teachers are working on learning plans and, beginning April 8, paper learning packages for grades P-9 will be delivered to homes along with weekly sales flyers.
These learning plans, packages and supports are here to help you, not to add more if your plate is already full. If you feel that adding student learning to your family’s situation is challenging right now, please let your child’s teacher know. No child will be disadvantaged because of COVID-19. Next year, our teachers and staff will work with students to identify and address any learning gaps.
Also, please know that supports, such as SchoolsPlus, are available to help direct you to resources in the community. Continue to check the SSRCE website for updates.
