Dear Families,
We’d like to provide an update regarding student transportation. Due to an ongoing shortage of bus drivers, some routes may experience delays or cancellations. We understand how challenging this can be for families, and we truly appreciate your patience and support. Please know that we share your concern and are actively working every day to resolve this issue, including brainstorming with regional staff and principals earlier this week.
Before any cancellation is made, we explore every possible option—including reassigning available drivers, adjusting routes, and seeking temporary coverage. Unfortunately, in some cases, we are unable to secure a replacement driver.
We Are (Always) Hiring Bus Drivers
We are always recruiting and currently have a group of new drivers completing training. However, we still need more help to meet the needs of our students. If you or someone you know is interested in joining our transportation team, please reach out—no previous experience is required, and training is provided. Job postings are available at www.ssrce.ca/employment.
Please Plan Ahead
To help minimize the impact of any cancellations, we encourage families to have a backup plan for getting children to and from school. We will advise parents/guardians of disruptions as soon as possible and encourage you to sign up for notifications through BusPlanner (instructions for BusPlanner are found here).
Thank you for your understanding as we work through this situation together.
