Know someone with a child who will be ready to start school in September? We are accepting registrations for the 2024-2025 school year now.
Families are encouraged to register using the following steps:
- Please complete all sections of the online registration form (new registrations only, current students including those in pre-primary do not need to register unless they are requesting a transfer).
- You must provide proof of residence (power or water bill), Nova Scotia Health Card and your child’s birth certificate. Please either upload these documents through the online form OR contact your child’s home school to arrange a time to bring them a copy.
- Review transportation information below.
What families can expect:
You will receive an email/phone call confirming receipt of your registration.
The documentation will be emailed to the home school for processing. Any further questions can be directed to the home school.
Programs
Welcome to Pre-primary
Pre-primary is available to all SSRCE school communities.
- In order to be eligible to attend pre-primary your child must be 4-years-old on or before December 31 in the year they start pre-primary.
- Your family must live within the catchment area of the school that offers this program. You can check out the SSRCE’s catchment area map here.
- Pre-primary does not have a waiting list. All families who live in the school catchment area will have a space in that school’s Pre-primary program.

Welcome to Grade Primary
- In order to register your child for Grade Primary, they must be 5-years-old on or before December 31 in the year they start Grade Primary.
- Students will register for English programs at the school in their catchment area. Students who live in the catchment area for Early French Immersion will register at the French Immersion designated school in their catchment area.
- Each school will publicize its dates for primary orientation.
Early French Immersion Program (Grade Primary)
- The Early French Immersion Program begins in Grade Primary.

Out of Area Requests – Student Transfers
- Parents/guardians may seek placement for their child in a school outside of their catchment area in which they reside under the guidelines of the Student Transfer Policy, Policy 210.
