Video contest: School bus safety

You could win $500!

The 2017 School Bus Safety Awareness Campaign runs from Oct. 16-20. More than 90,000 children rely on a school bus to safely transport them to and from school every day in Nova Scotia. School bus safety is an issue that requires ongoing attention.

There is a high rate of drivers who illegally pass school buses that are stopped for children to board or exit the bus. These incidents are called red light violations. In Nova Scotia, 1,450
violations were recorded by school bus drivers in 2017. These violations put our children at serious risk when simply boarding or exiting the school bus.

If you are an elementary, junior high or high school student, you have a chance to win some cash by helping to raise awareness of this important issue.  Simply create a 30-90 second video stating what’s in store for your bright future and why you think drivers should stop for your school bus.

The grand prize is $500!

Go to www.schoolbussafety.ca for rules and registration.

Contest closes on Nov. 19, 2017 and winners will be announced in December.
