SSRSB approved the tentative agreement with local Nova Scotia Teachers Union

At its regular board meeting on Dec. 13, the SSRSB passed a motion which will allow for the ratification of the tentative agreement between the SSRSB and the Nova Scotia Teachers Union (NSTU, Queens and Lunenburg County Locals).

The contract will take effect on the date of signing – expected Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2017 and will be in effect until July 31, 2020. The parties gained agreement on clauses pertaining to transfers for permanent and term teachers which the parties feel will facilitate more efficient employee mobility.

“This is good news for our board,” said Scott Milner, SSRSB Superintendent of Schools. “We discussed important topics with the NSTU and were able to find solutions that met both of our needs. Our local teachers also voted earlier in the week to accept the negotiated agreement.”

The SSRSB thanks and credits the negotiating teams from the SSRSB and the NSTU for their work.
